Tobacco company JTI is this month (January) introducing two brand extensions to its Sterling Dual cigarette brand.

The new lines are said to tap into the growing capsule sector, which now accounts for 13% of total cigarette sales in the UK.

JTI says Sterling Dual Superkings 20, with an introductory recommended retail price (RRP) of £8.30, compared to £8.65 for Sterling Dual, offers smokers “extra value and extra length” and allows retailers to make the most of the growing value cigarette sector and the 40% of smokers that choose Superkings.

The new Sterling Dual Double Capsule Kingsize is available in two flavours, peppermint and spearmint, and is being introduced at an RRP of £8.65. JTI says the new product allows smokers to “create a variety of distinct smoking experiences in just one cigarette”.

Stephane Berset, head of marketing UK at JTI, said: “With a number of new launches in the pipeline for JTI, we are continuing to invest in our successful brands to provide retailers with profit-driving products. The capsule value segment has grown considerably in the last year, and we’re excited to provide retailers with innovative new products to take advantage of these expanding markets.”
