Filshill worked with Sanderson, a technology provider for wholesale and cash & carry businesses, on the campaign which saw 45% of customers who had not ordered via the app before place orders.
In addition, 56% of people who purchased promoted products during the campaign had never previously bought those products via the app.
The campaign also spread the daily transactions more evenly across the week, as opposed to the previous trend where sales were heavily centred around Tuesdays.
The app, which is available for both iOS and Android devices, is fully integrated with the Sanderson wholesale software Swords and its fully responsive online ordering system. The app is also available as a cloud-based solution that works with any back office IT system.
Filshill, which supplies 175 retailers trading under the KeyStore, KeyStore More and KeyStore Express fascias across Scotland and the north of England as well as servicing 1,400 cash & carry customers, believes that the app will gain further traction as customers catch on to its convenience and ease of use.
Craig Brown, JW Filshill retail sales director, said: “As a wholesaler committed to providing a ‘best in class’ service to our customers it is important that we make the ordering process as easy as possible – at the same time striving to increase sales and make us more competitive in a busy convenience marketplace.
“Our mobile-friendly app opens up a whole new world of 24/7 ordering across our range of 5,000-plus products – it has customised ordering screens and search functions, an integrated barcode scanner, and delivered or click and collect options. It is also fully integrated with the Filshill website so customers can start their order online and finish it on the app or vice versa – it’s very flexible.”
