Chilano – the UK’s number three Chilean brand – has spread its vinous wings and introduced a new range from Spain to its portfolio.
The Chilano Horizon Series comprises three wines – a sweet fruity white blend, along with Airen and Tempranillo as single varietals – which are available to the multiple and convenience retail sectors at RRP £4.49-£4.99. The labels feature the well-known ‘C’ of Chilano rotated 90 degrees to become the iconic symbol of Spain – the fan.
Brand manager Willem Hunter said: “Chilano has long brought the vibrancy and flavours of Chile to the supermarket shelves but our ultimate aim has always been to provide UK consumers with a range of wines that seriously over-deliver at their price point – and Spain is producing some fantastic wines that do just that. The Chilano Horizon Series means we can bring these wines to our customers with all the reassurances that a well-known brand offers.”
Chilano is owned by Chilean producer Viña Ventisquero and PLB, the UK’s largest independent wine business, and recently experienced a 71% volume growth (Nielsen, w/e 31.3.2012). The brand, which is currently the 3rd biggest Chilean brand in UK retail and the 27th biggest overall brand in UK retail, currently comprises the Generics (RRP £4.99), Varietals (RRP £6.99) and Winemakers’ Choice Signature Series (RRP £9.99).
