Cadbury to launch chocolate Trident

Monday, 16 June 2008
Cadbury is set to launch a “unique flavour proposition” to the gum category this July – Trident Sweet Kicks Chocolate Mint Gum.

Trident Sweet Kicks combines chocolate flavour with sweet mint, and Cadbury says it will deliver consumers with “an indulgent and permissible sweet treat”.

The gum will be launched on 14 July, and will also be joined by the new Trident Fresh Mouth Watering Gum, available in three flavours – Oooh Peppermint, Aahh Spearmint and Coool Lemon.

“Trident has brought two million new users to the gum category since its launch and drove 75% of the £38m in gum category growth in 2007,” said Kate Harding, trade communications manager at Cadbury.

“These new Trident offers will give retailers two powerful new opportunities to access that growth, and are also higher priced, which has been proven by recent innovation to drive value growth in the gum market.”

The launches will be supported by a £10m multi media campaign during 2008, which will include TV advertising, sampling and digital media which will continue the ‘Mess with Your Head’ campaign.
