New Bristol bakery for Warburtons bread

Monday, 02 June 2008
Warburtons, the UK's number one branded baker, is pleased to announce a new Bakery in the South West of England as part of the company’s national expansion programme.

The brand new Bakery will be built on the outskirts of Bristol in the area known as Severn Beach and is expected to be completed and fully operational by December 2008.

As consumer demand for their products reaches an all time high, Warburtons is investing £45million in this 12-acre Bristol site which will be their 14th bakery and opens up distribution to multiples, convenience stores and other retail outlets across the South West.

The new bakery will be built in phases with a bread line being the first to be installed. Once completed, it will employ 450 people and the state-of-the-art machinery will produce 1.5m products each week.

Chairman Jonathan Warburton comments: “This is one of our biggest investments to date and reinforces our commitment to the South West. We only opened our Welsh bakery in Newport two years ago but we still need more capacity to meet increasing consumer demand.

“The Bristol bakery will allow us to make a wider range of products for distribution to Wales and the South West, helping us to provide an even better service for our customers and consumers.”

Warburtons is the number one selling branded bakery manufacturer in the UK with a 32.9% share of total consumer spend on Wrapped Bread and also the UK’s second largest grocery brand.

What other brand is ...
What other brand is that? Warburtons makes far superior bread to the other companies, although I do agree about the toaster thing but this is a minor set back as far as I am concerned.
