Walkers adds Smoky Bacon to Big Eats range

Tuesday, 13 May 2008
Walkers, the UK’s No.1 crisps and snacks manufacturer, is introducing Smoky Bacon flavour to its Big Eat range this month to capitalise on its increasing popularity.

Smoky Bacon
Smoky Bacon is Walkers' 5th best-selling standard bag flavour in Impulse, worth £5m and growing at 20%.

The Big Eat range, worth £27.7m and growing at 6.1%, enjoys excellent distribution through the Impulse channels, particularly forecourt.

The launch of this bold, meaty Smoky Bacon flavour will enhance the current range in these channels by targeting the young male adult market.

David Biggs, Walkers' impulse director says: “Smoky Bacon is already a popular flavour within the Walkers standard bag range and growing at 20%. By introducing this variant to the successful Big Eat range, Walkers will help retailers to capitalise on further sales opportunities within the Impulse channels.

“In order to maximise impulse sales of crisps and snacks in 2008, Walkers recommends that retailers invest time in maximising fixture displays, providing space to focus on the best sellers.”

Smoky Bacon Big Eat is available now with an RSP of 46p.

The new flavour will join the current core Big Eat range which includes Cheese & Onion, Ready Salted, Salt & Vinegar, Prawn Cocktail, Steak & Onion, Roast Chicken and Worcester Sauce.
