PG Tips rolls out Rainforest Alliance packaging |

PG tips, the leading tea brand from Unilever UK, is introducing new packaging to communicate its partnership with the Rainforest Alliance, which helps ensure that every cup consumed is a step towards a better life for tea farmers and their environment. ![]() The new packs, featuring the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal, are available now and will benefit from the massive £12m PG tips marketing investment in 2008.
The Rainforest Alliance is making sure that PG tips tea is grown using sustainable farming methods, that the workers picking the tea earn a decent living and that they have good working conditions. At least 50% of PG tips tea already comes from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms. It is expected that all the farms PG tips sources from will be fully certified by 2010. Adrian Adams, Senior Category Manager Unilever Beverages, says: “Packs featuring the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal are currently rolling out across the UK, encouraging consumers to ‘do their bit’ by putting the kettle on and enjoying their favourite cup of PG tips. “Our partnership with the Rainforest Alliance will make it easy for the 74% of consumers who claim to take ethical and environmental factors into account when choosing which brand to buy to make a difference”. PG tips is worth a massive £134.4m at retail and is growing at +3.5%.
