Bassetts Jelly Babies wobbly lollies set for launch

Monday, 10 March 2008
Fredericks Dairies, the UK’s largest independent ice cream manufacturer, is set to take the freezers by storm this summer with the launch of an exciting children’s product - Bassetts Jelly Babies wobbly lollies.

Jelly Babies wobbly lollies
Available from March, the unique lollies are a first for the ice cream market and will undoubtedly appeal to the confectionary brands huge fan base with their ‘wobbly’ proposition.

The Bassetts Jelly Babies brand is currently valued at £69 million with over 1 billion Jelly Babies sold every year.

The Bassetts Jelly Babies wobbly lollies are available in four fruity flavours, just like the sweets, including orange, strawberry, blackcurrant and lime.

Each lolly contains more than 25% real fruit juice, no artificial colourings or flavours and have only 65 calories per stick. Each variant emulates its confectionary counterpart with the same wobbly texture as a real Jelly Baby but with a great cool twist.

Available in an assorted 8-pack (8 x 45ml) with an RRP of £1.99 and an impulse format at 50p per 45ml stick, the new range boasts an eye-catching easy-to-read packaging design that will achieve maximum stand-out in the freezer and be a must stock line for retailers this summer and beyond.

David Taylor, sales and marketing director at Fredericks Dairies, says: “The launch of the new Bassetts Jelly Babies wobbly lollies displays our enthusiasm and commitment to providing innovative products that will inject excitement into the ice cream category and drive consumers to the freezers.

“The new range is guaranteed to entice Jelly Baby and ice lolly fans in store and drive fantastic sales opportunities for retailers throughout 2008.”

Me and my OH bought some the otherday as they were BOGOF. We laughed when we had one later that night, purely for the fact that after being out of the packet only a few moments, the lolly bends and wobbles. Will be great fun for kiddies. Only problem we found was I opened one box and found 5 orange, 2 strawberry and 1 raspberry - NO LIME :o( there is no guarentee what you are going to get in a box. Other that that they are tasty and low in calories :oD
