To leverage the trend towards healthier eating Uncle Ben’s is launching a new range of Stir Fry sauces to complement the brand’s well established Oriental WCS portfolio.

Stir Fry, a traditional way of cooking much loved by Eastern cultures, has been embraced by UK consumers and the market is currently worth £19m, making up one fifth of the total Oriental sector and driving category growth (up 28% year on year).

Uncle Ben’s new range of four Stir Fry sauces will offer consumers an exciting yet convenient way to enjoy one of their favourite cuisines (around half of all UK consumers claim to regularly eat Chinese Food). Stir Fry is also a quick and tasty way to eat fresh vegetables and contribute to your five-a-day.

By simply adding fresh meat, fish or vegetables and one of Uncle Ben’s Stir Fry sauces to a hot wok, consumers will be able to prepare a healthy and delicious meal from scratch, in just five minutes.

The new sauces, available in Aromatic Sweet and Sour, Oriental Sweet and Spicy Chilli, Oriental Soy and Black Bean and Thai Red Chilli with Coconut and Cream, are perfect for cooks who need a little inspiration and encouragement to experiment with different exotic flavours from around the world.

Uncle Ben’s, makers of the nation’s favourite Sweet & Sour cooking sauces, already has 17% share of the £100.1m total Oriental WCS market. The new range, which contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives is set to drive continued growth in the category by offering consumers a new home cooking experience for the senses.

Suzanne McFarlin, Customer Marketing Manager for Mars Food, commented: “Uncle Ben’s Stir Fry range is simply a quick, healthy and delicious way to enjoy a hot sizzling Oriental dish in only five minutes. This exciting sector continues to grow and we are very confident that our range will attract new consumers to the category and offer those who already use Stir Fry sauces something new, that we know they will enjoy cooking and eating.”

Available exclusively in Sainsbury’s from the end of June 07, the new striking packaging takes the form of a small, easy to open pouch that contains enough sauce to serve 2-3 people as a main meal. Each pouch retails at £1.25.
