The UK’s largest seafood briner, The Big Prawn Company is extending its presence in the convenience retail market with a range of innovative heat-to-eat dishes called Seafood Sensations.

New Sensations are sourced from the finest quality ingredients and consist of five seafood-based 150g two portion servings: Moules Mariniere, North Sea shrimps in spiced butter, Scallops in garlic butter, King prawns in garlic butter and King prawn Thai red curry.

“They are targeted at consumers who want quick and simple meal solutions in minutes, but who also want assurance about the quality and performance of the product” according to managing director, Bob Fleming.

The meals are quick and easy to prepare thanks to the clever microwavable pack with a steam release valve to let you know when they are cooked - simply microwave for up to two minutes, give a gentle shake and serve.

He continues, “We kept the packaging design simple and the content highly visible to allow the quality of the ingredients to speak for themselves.”

The products offer retailers a premium priced (RRP’s will range from £1.99 to £4.29) minimum 14 day shelf life product, while consumers will enjoy an indulgent dish made from the finest quality ingredients that can be eaten as a delicious starter, a quick take-home meal or alternative to traditional lunchtime offerings.

The range showcased at last month’s Brussels Seafood Show received fantastic trade response with strong interest from a number of leading European retailers.

Commercial director, Paul Byrne, explains: “Europe is reflecting that of the UK for convenience, health and indulgent products, players in those markets are looking to the U.K. for their inspiration and where the next innovation is going to be. It’s a good time for us to be entering the European arena, particularly France.”

Commenting on the new range Byrne said: “Sensations are an excellent addition to our portfolio and perfectly compliment our award winning snack and dip range Breakers.

"We are committed to supplying superior quality, market-leading seafood and are extremely proud to be first to market with innovative branded products such as these.”
