Hydrating around 35,000 runners and helping to ensure a ‘green race' - that's the commitment from natural mineral water Vittel, as it announces its eleventh year as official water supplier to the Flora London Marathon.
Working with the Marathon organisers to deliver 750,000 bottles of Vittel, in zero emission vehicles, which is almost enough water to fill 12 Olympic swimming pools, is just one of the measures the brand is taking to minimise the environmental impact of the event.
"We take our environmental responsibilities very seriously and the Marathon is no exception," explains Rebecca White, Nestlé Waters UK head of marketing.
"Putting thousands of bottles of Vittel into the hands of thirsty runners and in front of 500,000 spectators will create great awareness for the brand but it is vital that we respect the environment at the same time.
That's why we have committed to working with the Marathon organisers to help clear up after the race and recycle all the used bottles. What is more, we are providing caps to all race volunteers made from 100% recycled bottles".
David Bedford, Flora London Marathon Race Director, echoes the commitment: "We want a successful race but also an eco-friendly one as far as possible. We work hard with all our sponsors to make sure the Flora London Marathon sets the global standard for 'green' marathons".
Vittel will also be cheering on its own "Team Vittel" on the day, which, for the first time, will include a runner in a giant inflatable replica Vittel bottle.
This, along with branded water stations, totems and banners will ensure great standout for the brand not only among the crowd at the race, but also amongst the millions of viewers around the world watching on TV.
