Dove to release "innovative" dry skin products

Tuesday, 02 December 2008
Dove, the UK's most adored skin care brand from Unilever UK is introducing an innovative new launch - Dove Intensive Range for Extra Dry Skin.

Available from January 2009, the range will benefit from a massive £4.5 million consumer support package across TV, print, instore, online, DM and sampling.

The three product range includes a body lotion, hand cream and body butter formulated with the most hydrating Dove formula to date, produced to meet the everyday needs of women who suffer from extra dry skin.

Julie McCleave, Skincare Senior Category Manager at Unilever UK comments: "Over 40% of UK women suffer from dry skin. These consumers shop the skincare fixture more regularly and have 25% more usage occasions than the average consumer so they equate to a huge market opportunity.

"The new Dove Intensive Range targets these women by offering an everyday range created specifically to moisturise and care for extra dry skin, but which also provides the skin feel, fragrance and beauty experience that many dry skin offerings lack."

Last week, Unilever revealed a new range of Vaseline options.

The Dove Intensive Range formulations have the pairing of two powerful ingredients - a skin-nourishing oil and a rich hydrating cream.

This unique cream oil formula transforms skin from extra dry to extra soft, extra smooth and extra beautiful. The three-strong range comprises:

Dove Intensive Lotion for Extra Dry Skin with Cream Oil Formula (250ml), which provides ultimate moisture for skin that feels rough and is extra dry. RRP: £3.79 (6 units per case)

Dove Intensive Cream for Extra Dry Hands with Cream Oil Formula (75ml). A deeply penetrating and fast absorbing cream for extra dry hands. RRP: £2.29 (6 units per case)

Dove Body Butter for Extra Dry Skin (250ml). A spa-inspired, thicker formulation with shea butter and cocoa butter for the ultimate treat for extra dry skin. RRP: £4.99 (4 units per case)

Dove Skincare has a 14% share of the £169 million hand and body market. The brand has strong consumer awareness and is well loved and trusted by British women.
