Peter Keogh & Sons launches Easy Steam Baby Potatoes

Friday, 21 November 2008
Baby potatoes are a popular product in the Irish market and Irish potato growing and packing company Peter Keogh & Sons have been looking for an innovative solution that makes their potatoes stand out from the crowd.

By introducing Amcor's ProtectValve steam venting system for their Baby Potatoes, the company has managed to increase consumer convenience and energy savings through controlled and reduced cooking time.

"Striving for excellence is a Keogh family tradition and therefore we are constantly reassessing and developing our operations and processes. With the integration of Amcor's ProtectValve steam venting system on the packs' lidding films we facilitate steam cooking of our Baby Potatoes in the microwave," explains Tom Keogh, General Manager at Peter Keogh & Sons.

Amcor ProtectValve is an integrated part of the lidding film. It enables microwave cooking of chilled or frozen food that is raw, blanched or pre-cooked.

Consumers of Peter Keogh & Sons' Baby Potatoes will now benefit from uniform cooking with minimised dehydration and without loss of flavour or vitamins.

The potatoes can be cooked directly in the pack without using sharp implements to spike the lid.

Peter Keogh & Sons' Baby Potatoes are now available at Irish retailer Superquinn.

To get all the benefits of a gentle steam cooking process without investing in an expensive oven, simply grab a pack of Baby Potatoes with integrated ProtectValve and steam them in your microwave!

With annual net sales of €1.8 billion and manufacturing operations in 21 countries across Europe and the Americas, Amcor Flexibles, a division of Amcor, is a market leader and one of the world's largest suppliers of flexible and tobacco packing.

It delivers a wide range of products to the food, beverage, tobacco and healthcare markets.
