Haribo continues Maoam activity link with skateboard giveaway

Friday, 14 November 2008

Haribo Dunhills (Pontefract) is reinforcing Maoam's association with all things fun and active by giving away 100 limited edition skateboards and helmets in the latest on-pack promotion for its popular soft fruit flavour chew brand.

In the lead up to Christmas one million family-size bags of Maoam Stripes and Maoam Mao Mix will be featuring promotional stickers offering consumers the chance to win one of the specially commissioned Maoam branded skateboards and skateboard helmets.

Available from mid-November, the promotional packs will invite consumers to enter a prize draw on line via the Maoam website: www.maoam.co.uk. Closing date for entries is March 30, 2009.

Recently, Haribo revamped its Halloween range for 2008.

The autumn promotion is the second on-pack offer to support the Maoam brand this year. In spring, three quarters of a million family-size bags of Maoam Stripes and Mao Mix featured a "2 for 1" promotion offering consumers the opportunity to have two dance lessons for the price of one.

It was timed to coincide with the launch of 2008 Maoam Dance Mayhem - the UK's biggest freestyle dancing competition for 12 to 18 year olds - which generated hundreds of entries and culminated in the final which was held in Cheshire on October 29.

Herwig Vennekens, Managing Director of Haribo, says: "Maoam has earned credibility amongst young consumers by being associated with being active and having fun in a friendly and entertaining environment.

"Since Maoam was launched in the UK in 2001 the marketing activity behind the brand has always sought to reinforce this association - the first TV ad for Maoam, for example, featured skating champion Taïeg Khris practicing his rollerblading skills; Maoam Dance Mayhem is now in its fifth year; and 2008 has seen Maoam become involved in two new sponsorships - the Maoam & Kerrang Online Skateboarding Championships and the Maoam Streetball Player of the Year competition."
