Young's Seafood, the leading brand in frozen fish, announces that, for the third year running, it holds the number one spot as Britain's favourite frozen ready meal - Admiral's Pie.
Young's Admiral's Pie, made with wild Alaskan Pollock in a rich and creamy butter sauce and covered with mashed potato, has a brand value of £11m with sales of over 11 million packs a year. In fact, one pie is eaten every three seconds.
The UK frozen fish pie market has shown strong growth over the last year and is currently worth £43m.
Recent data also shows that Young's growth is driving the market, now growing at 26% over the last four weeks, with Young's growing at 28%.
Yvonne Adam, Marketing Director at Young's comments: "We are very proud to produce the UK's best selling frozen ready meal. Coming in at under one pound, Admiral Pie is exceptionally good value for money, especially during these ‘credit crunch' times.
"Young's Seafood ready meals are adding value, and driving growth in the total ready meals market where the message about the benefits of fish is clearly being communicated.
"All Young's frozen fish is frozen at sea within hours of being caught, ensuring it doesn't lose its great taste and locks in all the vitamins and nutrients - particularly Omega 3, of which fish is one of the best natural sources."
Young's is well established as the UK's leading fish brand, with sales in excess of £260m.
Its recent innovation has helped establish fish as the fastest growing frozen food sector with sales up 6% in the past 12 months, 50% higher than the rate of frozen foods overall.
