Intersnack unveils new Christmas pretzel range

Monday, 03 November 2008

The UK's number one pretzel manufacturer, Intersnack, has produced an exciting new Christmas range, to take advantage of the huge uplift in snacking across the seasonal period.

New star shaped pretzels will be joined by a seasonal selection tray, plus a range of 300g sharing bags; vying for position amongst the top snacks in the Christmas countdown.

"Christmas is a time for indulgence and treats," said Calum Ryder, Intersnack's managing director, "this is why Penn State has traditionally done exceptionally well across this season.

"The very essence of the brand is all about sharing and sophisticated fun; it's about having special nights in with friends and family. Christmas is the one time of year when everyone enjoys doing this and we hope that our pretzels stars add extra flavour to the festive sparkle."

The seasonal range includes salt & pepper star shaped pretzels with poppy seeds, packaged in silver foil 300g bags designed to reflect the sophistication and style sought by its 30 something female core audience; big bags for sharing (300g) available in three flavours - Original Sea Salted, Sour Cream & Chive and Sweet & Spicy Salsa; and a seasonal selection tray containing mini stars, sour cheese & chive mini pretzels and cheese flavoured waffles (310g).

Intersnack has invested heavily in the brand, over the last six months, and is optimistic this will pay dividends over Christmas and New Year.

The substantial spend on marketing has included; a sophisticated new look for Penn State and a high profile, through the line, marketing campaign incorporating a debut on Sky Movies Drama.

Calum Ryder, Intersnack managing director, adds: "Penn State already enjoys a significant share of the baked snack market, however, the relaunch in June was designed to reflect the growth of the brand and the sophistication and style sought by its users.

"We are confident that this substantial investment in marketing, combined with the new seasonal range, will translate to greater sell through to the consumer."
