Friday, 31 October 2008

John West, the number one canned fish brand in the UK is helping mums smuggle 100% of their family's recommended daily intake into their family's meals, in just one can of tuna.

In a first to the market, the new Omega 3 Tuna steak from John West has five times more Omega 3 than standard canned tuna.

"Tuna fish oil is naturally rich in Omega 3 which the body needs for a healthy heart, mind, skin and joints," comments Fiona O'Keeffe, Marketing Manager of John West.

"In one easy step, John West offers a new way to help families get their full requirement of Omega 3. Combine this with the fact that tuna is high in protein, and you've got an instant winner for all the family."

On shelf from October, new Omega 3 Tuna steak from John West still has the same great succulent taste you would expect from John West with the added benefit of this essential nutrient.

The bright and energetic packaging also reinforces the natural health benefits of Omega 3 and will give excellent stand on the canned fish fixture.

To really capture consumers' attention, the product will be merchandised vertically to give increased stand out, using shelf-ready packaging that is heavily branded reinforcing the 100% RDI message.

The launch will be supported with a campaign of outdoor, press and PR.

Entitled "Bursting", in which cans of tuna are shown bursting with Omega 3, the campaign uses fun and vibrant creative cues which help to deliver a serious message in a light-hearted way that everyone has come to expect from John West.

"This exciting launch demonstrates John West's commitment, as the market leader in canned fish, to deliver great tasting NPD that responds to what our consumers want, while investing in and growing the overall category," continues Fiona O'Keeffe.

That is a great product. the only concern I would have is the mercury and other heavy metal levels. It is important to try and keep those from acc*mulating in your system they can cause real problems. I only hope John West Has a procedure in place to test his product for these levels.
