Baker Rowe’s announces new, cheaper range

Monday, 27 October 2008
Rowe's the bakers have announced the launch of a new line of products for their retail outlets - Rowe's Savers. The range, which initially comprises four varieties of ready-made sandwiches, will represent extra value for money at a time when customers need it the most.

The brand is expected to expand in 2009 to include additional products and will also encompass multi-buy offers and special discounts, all designed to offer retail customers extra savings during the ‘credit crunch'.

Priced between £1.50 and £1.60 the Rowe's Savers sandwiches contain basic, hearty fillings such as ham and pickle, tuna and red onion, and egg salad with plain white or brown bread, yet the bakery's policy of using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible remains firmly in place.

These extra value products will sit alongside Rowe's signature Cornish Indulgence sandwiches, which feature elements like nettle bread and luxury Cornish cheeses, giving shoppers a varied choice in terms of flavour and price point.

Savers products will be easily identifiable in store via a specially designed sticker and the range is being backed by a major local media and marketing campaign that will begin in early 2009 - the year that Rowe's celebrates its 60th anniversary.

"The Rowe's Savers brand is a new concept for us that represents highly competitive pricing and extra savings for our retail customers," said Paul Pearce, Marketing Manager at Rowe's.

"We traditionally position ourselves at the premium end of the market but with the Savers range we have stripped all the extras away to produce simple, quality products that don't compromise on any of our fundamental values.

"We use as many locally sourced ingredients as possible in all our products and employ traditional craft baking methods for our breads and other baked goods - our Savers range is no exception.

"In a tough marketplace we have priced our new range extremely competitively and we're expecting it to perform well."
