South Caernarfon Creameries celebrates awards success

Monday, 27 October 2008

South Caernarfon Creameries has swept the board again this year, with a range of their products receiving sixteen awards. Both new products and old favourites have been recognised as amongst the cream of the crop; and once again, it wasn't just their exquisite cheese that received recognition.

South Caernarfon ventured into the chilled desserts market earlier this year. The cream based desserts have already been recognised as amongst the best, with Lemon Possett attaining first prize at the Royal Welsh Show and the Chocolate Pot gaining third prize at the Great Yorkshire Show.

Caerphilly was also launched earlier in the year and it oozes provenance; a traditional Welsh cheese, made in Wales using Welsh milk. Its flavour is exceptional, and the judges at the Mid Somerset Show also agreed, awarding it a first prize.

Another new product has also been recognised; in fact it is so new it hasn't yet hit the shelves! Red Leicester with Chilli obtained a bronze medal at the World Cheese Awards, alongside South Caernarfon's Mild Cheddar and their Old Shire with Leek.

Awards were also bestowed at The British Cheese Awards, Frome Cheese Show and The Royal Bath & West Show and South Caernarfon's Smoked, Mild, Medium and Mature Cheddar, Double Cream, Old Shire Special Reserve and Old Shire with Leek all receiving awards.

"We feel that it is imperative to receive independent recognition for our range as it acknowledges the exceptional quality of our products. Awards such as these are important as their focus is on taste and quality rather than the brand or elaborate packaging" explains Lynne King, Commercial Director from South Caernarfon Creamery.

"We were especially pleased that so many of our new products received top awards."

Last week, the company said that it was launching a new promotional campaign for its Extra Mature Cheddar.
