Heinz launches new range of Tomato Purees

Wednesday, 15 October 2008

Heinz is giving busy mums a helping hand when it comes to preparing home cooked meals for the family, with the launch of a new range of Heinz Tomato Purees, infused with herbs and spices.

Available in 125g / 130g foil tubes from mid October, the range of four Heinz Tomato Purees stand out from the crowd as they contain all the flavour mums need to cook popular family dishes such as spaghetti bolognese and chilli con carne, in one tube.

Joining the original Heinz Plain Tomato Puree are Heinz Tomato Puree with Garlic, Heinz Tomato Puree with Chilli and Heinz Tomato Puree with Mexican Spices.

"Mums increasingly want to cook family meals from scratch during the week, and sometimes need a helping hand to use the right herbs and spices, without compromising on natural, quality ingredients," says Lynsey Hurst, Heinz Senior Brand Manager, Ingredients.

"With the launch of Heinz Tomato Purees, Heinz is lending its trusted name and unique tomato expertise to the puree category to help mums cook with confidence."

The latest additions from Heinz will breathe new life into the purees category. Striking packaging featuring images of the puree ingredients such as tomatoes, chillis and garlic, will give the range real prominence on shelf.

Up to 100,000 packs will also feature recipe suggestion stickers to give mums new meal ideas for during the week.

Heinz is also unveiling a new look for Heinz Chopped Tomatoes, Heinz Tomato Frito, Heinz Passata and Heinz Whole Peeled Tomatoes, bringing them inline with the new look purees range.

"The launch of Heinz Tomato Purees is further evidence of Heinz's commitment to act on consumer insight in both existing and new categories by identifying opportunities for growth," says Lynsey Hurst.

"This activity comes as part of Heinz's biggest year of innovation in its sauces portfolio, in which we have unveiled a host of new products, signaling an exciting period for Heinz sauces and the category as a whole."

The tomato puree category is worth £15 million and is in +9.7% growth.
