Mars makes changes to consumer drinks

Monday, 06 October 2008
Mars Consumer Drinks is pleased to announce a series of new and improved changes to its popular chocolate milk based drinks; Mars Refuel and Mars.

From November, the fabulous taste of Mars Refuel and Galaxy drinks will change from a 310ml bottle to 388ml, meaning consumers can now relish the taste of their favourite chocolate milk drinks for longer.

Mars Refuel has a new and improved recipe which will contain no artificial colours or flavours. The fat content has also been reduced from 2% to 1.5%.

Research from Northumbria University has confirmed that this will not affect the refueling benefits of the drink. Mars Refuel is still the ideal drink for aiding recovery after sport or exercise.

Galaxy drink also benefits from a recipe change, with the new 388ml bottle containing real Galaxy chocolate. The good news is this will not increase the fat content in fact the new recipe actually has less fat with a reduction to 1.2%.

To encourage recycling, the new bottles will be 99% recyclable thanks to a perforated strip which makes separating the materials quick and easy to do.

Bep Sandhu, trade relations manager for Mars Consumer Drinks is confident consumers will positively receive the changes; "We believe the exciting developments to Mars Refuel and Galaxy drinks will give consumers a more satisfying experience.

"At Mars we are continually reviewing our recipes to make sure they meet the desires of consumers and we are working to remove artificial colours, flavours and preservatives.

"The new 388ml bottles will give consumers an increase not only in quantity but also quality, making Mars Refuel and Galaxy drinks fantastic value for money.

"The ability to now recycle the whole bottle will really appeal to the increasing numbers of eco-conscious consumers."

Mars Refuel and Galaxy 388ml are available from all leading supermarkets, independent grocers and petrol stations. The RSP is £1.09.
