Cadbury reveals Glass and a Half Full gorilla adverts will make return

Saturday, 06 September 2008
Creating more moments of pleasure, Cadbury, the UK’s number one confectionery manufacturer is pleased to announce that the Cadbury Dairy Milk ‘Glass and a Half Full Production’ adverts that have captured the nation’s attention will be back on screens from 5th September. The ‘Gorilla’ and ‘Trucks’ adverts are part of a £17m marketing campaign in 2008; the biggest spend for the brand to date.

Gorilla ad still
Both the 'Gorilla' and 'Trucks' adverts which promote Cadbury Dairy Milk were a huge hit with consumers the first time they aired. The adverts saw huge success because they engage consumers on a personal level, reminding them exactly why Cadbury Dairy Milk is Britain's favourite chocolate brand; the only chocolate to contain a 'Glass and a Half' of fresh milk.

In terms of in-store activity, 'Gorilla' will be the focus for point of sale and this is expected to help drum up more sales. Retailers can use the dedicated point of sale to create in store theatre around the Cadbury Dairy Milk brand and drive interest with shoppers. Last time 'Gorilla' was on TV the brand saw huge levels of consumer interest with the advert being viewed on YouTube, Facebook groups being dedicated to 'Gorilla' and the Phil Collins hit 'In the Air Tonight' making it to number 23 in the UK charts. To add to this, sales rose by a huge 9% during the 'Gorilla's' 12 week air time.

Kate Harding, Trade Communications Manager at Cadbury comments:
“Cadbury Dairy Milk has over 100 years of heritage and continues to be the number one chocolate brand in the UK, worth over £370 million in retail sales value . We saw huge levels of consumer engagement when the 'Glass and a Half Full Productions' adverts first aired, so retailers should be ready for increased shopper awareness.”
