Nestlé enters Skinny Cow into hot chocolate market

Wednesday, 03 September 2008
Nestlé is looking to capitalise on the growing hot chocolate market, with the launch of Skinny Cow, an indulgent, low calorie hot chocolate.

Skinny Cow Chocolate 200g
Nestlé Skinny Cow Hot Chocolate will be available from the end of September in multiples and independent retailers in a 200g tub and single serve stick-packs. It launches with two delicious flavours - 'Indulgent Chocolate' and 'Chocolate Mint'.

Skinny Cow is an important new product in the hot chocolate segment. At 40 calories and 3% fat per serving, this HVO-free drink provides a great option for consumers looking for a light option without compromising on taste.

Nestlé UK Trade Communications Manager, Graham Walker, commented; “The Hot Chocolate segment is now worth £79 million and is attracting increasing numbers of women aged 25 to 44.

“Our new Skinny Cow hot chocolate builds on the brand in an innovative way and we're excited about its potential in this growing segment.”

The launch of Skinny Cow Hot Chocolate will be supported by half a million marketing spend in 2008 and an extensive support campaign planned for 2009. Activity will be focused on reaching the target female market through above the line press advertising and below the line poster activity and sampling.
