Old Rascal cider is listed by Tesco and Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s and Tesco are both taking on Thatchers Old Rascal cider following the brand’s recent re-launch.

As part of its range review, Sainsbury’s has also confirmed new listings for Thatchers Pear Cider and Thatchers Gold, as well as doubling the number of stores stocking Thatchers Katy and Thatchers Vintage.

Tesco has confirmed that it is to list Old Rascal across its stores nationwide, alongside its current Thatchers range, which includes Katy, Coxs and Gold.

Martin Thatcher, managing director at Thatchers, said: “This is great news for Old Rascal – it has been one of our favourite ciders for many years, and with its new profile we are sure it will continue to spread the word about fine Somerset cider to new drinkers throughout the country.

New packaging and point of sale for Old Rascal tell the story of the “Old Rascal”, a wily old fox who creeps into the cider store to top up on his favourite tipple.

Old Rascal has an abv of 4.5%, and the 500ml bottle has an rrp of £1.79. Old Rascal is also available in a two-litre PET, and both the 500ml and two-litre sizes will be available in six-packs.

A bittersweet cider produced from Dabinett and Redstreak cider apples,, Old Rascal is aged in oak vats.
