In celebration of Scotland's favourite bard, The Famous Grouse, distributed by Maxxium UK and in partnership with Homecoming Scotland 2009, will be undertaking a series of Burns Night activities.
Scotland's favourite whisky will be providing bars across Scotland with Burns promotional kits to help them evoke the spirit of Robert Burns.
Each kit contains scratchcards which are given out with a purchase of The Famous Grouse.
Customers have a chance of winning limited edition World Famous Burns Supper toasting glasses. Sampling will also be taking place during January in key supermarkets across Scotland.
Assistant Brand Manager for The Famous Grouse, Jen McLaren, comments: "The 25th January marks the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns' birthday and we will be providing bars and wholesalers with Burns Night tools to help them mark the occasion.
"The Famous Grouse is Scotland's favourite whisky and a national icon.
"It is one of the few remaining Scotch brands to be owned and produced by an independent Scottish company which is why it is the perfect accompaniment to one of the most important Scottish celebrations of the year."
Gerry O'Donnell, Global Director of the Famous Grouse, said: "With an estimated 45 million Scottish descendents around the world, this is a great opportunity to bring everyone together to celebrate Scottish roots and heritage.
"What better way to toast the nation's best loved bard, than with a dram of the nation's favourite whisky."
In addition to the kits and sampling The Famous Grouse is also the official sponsor of www.burnssupper2009.com.
This website has been developed by Homecoming Scotland 2009 to bring Burns' devotees from around the world together online, calling on them to register their celebrations, big, small, traditional or unusual.
To date, over 800 Burns' Suppers have been logged and the number continues to rise. The site aims to break the world record for the greatest number of Burns suppers ever held.
175 of the suppers registered are being held in Scotland, with the remaining events held all around the world, from Croatia to Canada, Indonesia to Iraq, Argentina to Azerbaijan and Sweden to Sri Lanka!
