Armagnac Sempé launches new XO blend

Monday, 15 December 2008
Armagnac Sempé has just launched a new XO blend made from 20% Armagnac Tenarèze and 80% Bas-Armagnac.

In blending Armagnacs from the two Appellations, Sempé achieves a well balanced and complex blend.

The Bas Armagnac gives the mellow and soft notes, whilst the Tenarèze offers power and spice.

The 40% vol. blend is aged in Gascon oak barrels for a minimum of 10 years and up to 25 years and comes in an elegant modern square bottle packaged in a stainless steel gift box, making it an ideal gift.

Sempé aim to appeal to a younger, cosmopolitan and professional market with this stylish yet simple presentation. It would sit well on a bar or equally at home.

Tasting notes: Sempé XO has a brilliant copper colour with amber highlights. The nose is powerful and dominated by the smell of macerated and stewed plums and prunes that blend with notes of wood and spice.

Lovely balance in the mouth with a gentle attack leading to a hot, dry finish. Supple and round with good length.

Available in bottles of 50cl (on wooden base), or 70cl (in metal box).
