Spar takes on new Australian wine brand

Wine company Buckingham Schenk has secured two new listings and a new wine for its "sophisticated Australian" brand Buckingham Estate.

Buckingham Estate Reserve Chardonnay has been launched to complement Buckingham Estate Reserve Shiraz, the established flagship wine for the brand. Both wines are now available in selected Spar stores at an rrp of £7.99.

Buckingham Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2007 is from Geographe in Western Australia, made from 100% free-run chardonnay juice and is unoaked. Buckingham Estate Reserve Shiraz was launched in the UK in 2005 and won the Quality Drink Awards Best Red Wine £5 to £10.

Jon Pepper, marketing manager at Buckingham Schenk, said: "The Reserve Chardonnay is an exciting addition to the Buckingham Estate range; Geographe is an emerging premium region with exceptional potential. We're particularly delighted to be working with Spar to bring this great value wine to the UK consumers, who we are know to be looking for more ways to try regional Australia."
