Newman’s Own Inc, US owner of the iconic dressings, marinades and sauces brand created by actor Paul Newman, has appointed The English Provender Company to manufacture and sell its products in the UK and Ireland markets from October 1st.
Thomas Indoe, President of Newman’s Own Inc, said: “We are both excited and impressed by the people and facilities at English Provender. Newman’s Own has been in the UK a long time and is an established favourite. We are now aiming to bring over a number of product ranges new to the UK and build these here. We are confident that EPC is the right partner to help us realise this potential.”
He added: “We are working to make the transition to EPC as smooth as possible for our current UK and Ireland trade base, and it clearly helps that EPC is already a key supplier into our own core sectors. We are currently talking to the trade to tell them of our plans for the immediate future and the longer term.” Gary Blake, Managing Director of EPC, said: “We are delighted with this news. Newman’s Own is a significant brand with a real point of difference and this, combined with our current position in the dressings and marinades sector, further drives EPC forward as a key supplier. It also helps retailers to benefit from a simplification in category and supply chain management. ” Newman’s Own, founded by Paul Newman in 1982, has since given more than $250million to charity through the Newman’s Own Foundation. English Provender, which will make the Newman’s Own products at its 90,000 sq ft state-of-the-art production facility in Newbury, will work closely with Newman’s Own Inc newly-appointed UK manager Mark Tilley, who combines the role with that of Director of Sales – National Accounts in the US.

... For a few years I have been a regular user of your Thousand Island Dressing. The bronze top was replaced a year or so ago with a black topped thinner version and this very quickly bacame hard to find. Now this product has disappeared from the shelves of all the supermarkets in the north London South Herts area. Two questions. Why was the product changed for a thinner, and inferior, version? Why has this now disappeared from the shops? Perhaps I can order it directfrom wholesalers. |
