Brit Trips, Walkers' on-pack promotion launched in February, has now reached the halfway mark and is already fuelling massive levels of brand engagement.

The website www.walkersbrittrips.co.uk has now seen more than 2.7million hits, with over 470,000 consumers registering their details and collecting 22 million points.

Over 100,000 trips have already been taken, representing an estimated £2m worth of savings on Brit Trips taken so far.

With so many points banked we expect there to be 1000’s more trips taken all throughout the summer.

In addition, Walkers has seen breakthrough levels of engagement with consumers spending more than 1.3 billion seconds (more than 15,000 days!) with the brand online.

On average, consumers visit the site four times a week, spending nearly ten minutes each time.

The promotion offers consumers millions of pounds worth of savings on the best Britain has to offer, simply by collecting points from bags of Walkers crisps.

It is being supported by £5m through-the-line consumer marketing campaign.

Claire Wright, senior account director at The Big Kickagency handling the Brit Trips promotion, says: “The level of consumer engagement with the promotion is unprecedented – and we’re still only half way through! With over 14,000 Brit Trips on offer there really is something for everyone, so we envisage that final redemptions will be way beyond our expectations.”

And it’s not only a success with shoppers - retailers are wholeheartedly supporting Brit Trips too. Walkers is encouraging this by creating tailored solutions with sales, brand and Shopper Marketing teams working together to create 2 million scratch-cards, free holidays and attraction tickets for overlays and incentives.

Walkers managing director Richard Evans, says: “We expected a positive reaction from consumers and customers to the Brit Trips campaign and have not been disappointed – the response has been phenomenal! We’ve grabbed consumer attention with the comprehensive marketing support backing the promotion and our customers can relate our activity to their own strategic objectives of growing the category.”

Evans continues: “Walkers is a fun, British brand, famous for promotions that capture the nation’s imagination. Brit Trips encourages consumers to enjoy beautiful Britain for less – you only need a few bags to save a packet. I anticipate the second half of the promotion to be equally successful as more consumers get on board.”

Walkers is the UK’s No 1 crisps and snacks brand, worth £436m, +6.0% and eaten by more than 10 million consumers in Britain every day. Brit Trips is just one element of 2008’s impactful Home Grown marketing campaign, and runs for another six weeks.

Freddy H. My wife and I have trips out every Tuesday. For the last few weeks our days out have been a Walkers Brit Trip day. Even a three day trip with a two nights stay in one of the hotels given within the trips. With being pensioners, the savings made on the Brit Trips and too somewhere different have been very much appreciated. Thank you Walkers for our splendid days out. Freddy and Betty Hudson.

To Zoe. Elaine and Peter. How to find out where to go and to Register with Walkers Brit Trips. Go onto Internet and put up Walkers Brit Trips for their web page. Go to Register at the top right of page, then follow instructions. Also on the web page is how to bank your points, plus search for Brit Trips. Just follow the guidance given on each page. Its all made very easy for you. Best of luck and enjoy. Make sure you visit the land of the gods, that’s ‘The North of England’. (North of Watford). Some wonderful places to see for anyone who have never visited this area. Freddy Hudson.
