Branston Relish, the UK's No.1 relish brand, hits our screens this spring/summer with a national television advertising campaign.

Tested regionally last year, the humorous ad features a Branston Relish ice cream-style van mobbed by a hungry barbequing crowd and it’s one of the most well received TV campaigns Premier Foods has ever released.

Airing initially from 21 May for three weeks, with subsequent bursts phased throughout June, July and August, the advert represents part of a significant £2m above-the-line investment for the brand in 2008.

It will be supported by an extensive regional radio campaign, advertising in key customer magazines and point of sale material, along with a national mail shot, giveaways and promotional offers in out of home stores.

Branston Marketing Manager, Kelly Pym, says: “Considering both Branston’s success and the untapped potential for growth in the relish market, we have created a heavyweight advertising campaign, guaranteed to capture the spirit of summer and underpin growth in 2008.

“Not only will it market Relish, it also promises to drive trial and promote brand awareness across the whole Branston range – particularly sweet pickle.”

She continues: “Over 18.5 million adults in the UK barbeque and as the UK’s favourite relish, worth £4.5m, growing at 30% year-on-year, and a hit at barbeques, Branston Relish will build upon this huge success. It’s a great-tasting, versatile product, with an appealing range of delicious flavours and a convenient upside down format.”

With an RSP of £1.54, Branston Relish is available in the following flavours: Hot Chilli & Jalapeno Relish, Sweet Chilli with Ginger Relish, Tomato & Red Pepper Relish, Sweet Onion Relish, Gherkin Relish and Sweetcorn & Red Pepper Relish.

Premier Foods recommends merchandising Branston Relish within chilled, frozen meat and BBQ sundries to maximise the sales opportunity.
