Velvet launches new on-pack panda promotion
Velvet, the popular family toilet tissue brand manufactured by SCA, is launching a new on-pack promotion to support Velvet's ongoing partnership with WWF. Nine million special packs will be going into stores towards the end of February offering a free panda plush toy made by Keel, in return for tokens from the packs. The promotion marks the start of an extensive marketing campaign planned for 2008 and will be supported by instore activity at point of sale. Consumers need to collect three tokens to send to Velvet along with a £2 cheque which will go directly to WWF. Tokens are available on the back of the limited edition promotional packs. There is one token on four-roll packs increasing to three on 18-roll packs to encourage up weighting of purchase. Each panda plush comes with a special secret code that will allow the owner access to a secret kids area on the Velvet site where owners can print out a birth certificate for their panda toy and enjoy games, facts and other exclusive activities. The promotion is being run by Chemistry Communications and is part of an ongoing PR and Marketing campaign to support Velvets partnership with WWF. The partnership between Velvet and WWF, the global conservation organisation, was forged in 2007, when WWF ranked SCA top in a WWF survey of the big five tissue manufacturers, who make up 75% of the European market, based on their environmental performance. With consumers ever mindful of doing their bit for the environment, yet not wishing to compromise on quality or sacrifice too much time in their busy schedules, Velvet can ensure the quality and softness required, yet also the reassurance of being kind to the environment. Joanne Mathers, Brand Manager of Velvet comments: This is a large scale on-pack promotion which we are very excited about. Every panda toy that is sent off for will directly raise £2 for WWF which is another reflection of our commitment to the charity and to conservation of the planet. Present activity includes the Velvet Young Nature Photographer Competition in association with WWF. Entries are currently being judged by a panel including celebrity judge Philipa Forrester and winners will be announced at the beginning of February.
