Spam Slices spice up chilled cooked meats category
Hormel Foods has taken a step into the chilled cooked meats sector with the launch of Spam Slices, a delicious new product in the Spam Chopped Pork and Ham range. This is the first time Spam has been available as a sliced product.
The new great tasting, ready to eat Spam Slices come in handy, easy to open packaging, making them ideal for buffets, picnics and taking to work in a tasty sandwich. Rebecca Wilson, European Brand Manager for Spam commented: The new Spam Slices are great value and open up another new category for Spam, it is the first time we have branched into the sliced meats market and we are confident that Spam Slices will be very successful. The ready to use slices are great for use at any time of day and offer versatility, convenience and the great taste of Spam. They will also ensure the brand continues to compete competitively in the chilled market, as well as attracting new and lapsed users to the brand. Spam Chopped Pork and Ham has seen a recent resurgence in popularity, with recent launches including Spam Fritters and a Limited Edition Rugby Can. Sales of Spam products have increased 7% in the last year. The new Spam Slices will be available in Asda from 16 October 2007, with a RRP of £1.29 for a 120g pack (containing 4x 30g slices).
