Young's commits to 35m sustainable fish meals a year
As part of its ongoing 'Fish for Life' programme, Young's has switched 21 of its core ready meals to MSC certified seafood over the past few months.
This means that as many as 35 million Youngs ready meals a year will now be made with MSC fish. All these meal products (15 frozen and 6 chilled) are now made with either MSC wild-caught Alaskan pollock, or Alaskan salmon or Cape hake from South Africa. Included in the sustainability drive are Youngs flagship meal brands - Ocean Pie and Admirals Pie (which is the UKs best-selling ready meal of any type, one being eaten on average every 2.4 seconds!) The MSC is the gold standard for sustainability and we are proud to have been able to move such a substantial part of our range to MSC fish. Some 85% of all the MSC-certified fish products sold in the UK are made by Youngs Seafood. The latest announcement continues a process which has already seen MSC fish introduced to many other Youngs ranges and further MSC launches are expected in the next few months.
