The Scandinavian Tobacco Group UK (STG UK) has announced that it has been awarded the distribution rights for the Natural American Spirit (NAS) brand by the company SFR Tobacco International GmbH (SFRTI).

The deal will provide STG UK with an increased presence in the growing Roll Your Own tobacco (RYO) market and establish itself as a player in the Cigarette category.

The NAS brand offers consumers a range of products that are made from the highest quality, premium grade tobacco and are completely additive free. The NAS Rolling Tobacco range compromises of three SKUs that are available in outers of 10 x 12.5g (MRRP £3.83 per pack), 5 x 25g (£7.37 per pack) and 5 x 35g (£9.49 per pack) formats. The Cigarette range is made up of two SKUs, Yellow and Blue, of 20 cigarettes, each at an MRRP of £6.95.

STG UK will be looking to drive sales of the NAS brand further, with it already having distribution in the major multiples and in cash and carries across the UK.

Alan Graham, head of marketing at STG UK, said: “RYO has been one of the success stories of the last few years and it’s only natural that we’d look to develop our presence in the category. We feel that there is still a significant opportunity for growth. We’ve seen a growth in the number of consumers that are looking for tobacco products that are additive free, so retailers should be aware of this trend and stock products that will meet this need.

“We are looking forward to working with SFRTI and developing distribution of the NAS brand in the UK, particularly in the convenience retail channel.”

Susanne Lippert, senior director marketing, SFRTI, said: “We are delighted to be working together with STG UK. The deal will be mutually beneficial to both of our companies and we feel that STG UK is the right strategic partner to develop sales of the NAS brand in the UK.”
