Three new cakes from Weight Watchers

Weight Watchers is to build on the growth of the healthy cake market with a modern and impactful packaging redesign of its entire range and the launch of three new delicious tasting cakes, all with significantly reduced calorie and saturated fat content.

The healthy cake market is growing by 20per cent year on year in value terms, well ahead of an overall category value growth of 6.2 per cent.

The Weight Watchers range dominates the healthy cake market with a 38 per cent share, with market penetration increasing by a healthy 10 per cent year on year.

Mark Bruce, business development director for the Finsbury Food Group, who manufacture the Weight Watchers cakes under licence, says: “Consumers are much more aware of what they are eating but still want occasional indulgence. We’ve used all our expertise in cake baking to produce three new products that will excite consumers and will deliver on a lower calorie and saturated fat content with no compromise on taste.”

Weight Watchers Belgian Chocolate Slices

Weight Watchers Apple Crumble Slices
A traditional apple crumble recipe with a twist! This innovative cake slice combines a light apple sponge, layered with Bramley apple jam and topped with an oaty crumble. With a Points value of just 1½ per slice consumers will find it easy to fit them into their healthier eating plans. Suggested RSP £1.15

Weight Watchers Mini Victoria Sponges
True indulgence in the form of a gorgeous teatime treat. With real strawberry jam and vanilla flavoured fondant sandwiched between moist, light sponge and lightly dusted with icing sugar, these cakes have a Points value of just 1½ per cake. The six-cake pack has a suggested RSP of £1.29 to £1.39

Finsbury have also refreshed the packaging of the whole Weight Watchers cake range.

Says Bruce, “The new packaging gives even greater standout on shelf and will show consumers that they do not need to compromise on taste to enjoy low fat, low calorie treats. The new packaging is brighter and more modern with vibrant ingredients shots integrated into the design.”
