Wine giant Foster’s EMEA has claimed its Gabbiano IGT Toscana rosé is the first premium varietal rosé from Tuscany available in the UK. Made from 100% Sangiovese, the wine is said to be in the traditional dry style of the region. Sainsbury’s is stocking the wine exclusively at a retail price of £5.99.

Wine importer Ehrmanns is launching what it claims to be the first premium-priced Fairtrade wines, with the introduction of the Soluna brand from Argentina. The Soluna Premium Malbec (£8.99) and Soluna Premium Organic Malbec (£9.99) will be available from September 19.

The Devon-based O’Hanlon’s Brewing Company won the Champion Bottled Beer of Britain competition at Camra’s Great British Beer Festival in August with its O’Hanlon’s Port Stout. Joint silver medals went to Titanic Stout and Wye Valley Dorothy Goodbody’s Wholesome Stout, with Wapping Baltic Gold winning a bronze medal.
