Asda’s range of own-label curries, supplied by Derby-based Indian cuisine experts S&A Foods, has been awarded the ‘Best Supermarket Curry Award’ at the Scottish Curry Awards.
Asda beat off competition from other shortlisted supermarkets Morrisons and Iceland to scoop the award, which was decided by public nominations.
“Asda was the clear winner of the award, earning more than 80% of the public votes,” said Yasmin Mahmood of Oceanic Consulting, organisers of the event. “Its broad range of great-tasting curries has clearly won over the public, and the award has highlighted that Asda is a cut above the rest when it comes to delicious curries at excellent value.”
The hungryhouse.co.uk Scottish Curry Awards, established in 2008, are devoted to Scotland’s love of curry and reward those in the industry who work tirelessly to deliver delicious dishes. More than 7,000 nominations for its nine categories were received from all over Scotland.
The winners were announced at a glittering ceremony at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow.
