Items included in the new drive include biscuits, ice cream, beer and crisps, with producers from the area having been enrolled.
One of the central parts of the initiative will be the promotion of a new line of Yorkshire Crisps, the first time the brand has been on shelves outside of independent venues and pubs.
Four flavours are set to be offered in the range, including Henderson’s Yorkshire Sauce, Lightly Sea Salted and Cheddar and Caramelised Onion Chutney.
Local trading manager at the Co-op Florence Cole underlined the importance of strong relations with diverse communities.
“We’ve been serving Yorkshire for more than 100 years and as a retailer in the heart of the community, we understand how important local products are to our customers,” he said.
Its Made in Yorkshire range, with the focus on local sourcing, is due to be available in numerous outlets, such as Bradford, Halifax, Hebden Bridge and Sheffield.
