waitrose store 1Waitrose is to open its first store in North Wales in Spring 2010.

The supermarket will take over the site in Menai Bridge, which is currently run by The Co-operative.

No jobs are expected to be lost when the Co-operative moves to the former Somerfield site in Llanfairpwll and Waitrose is set to take on 60 extra staff when it begins trading.

The Co-Op was ordered by the Office of Fair Trading to sell the Menai Bridge store or its Somerfield shop in Llanfairpwll, following the Co-Op’s acquisition of Somerfield this year.
