Waitrose and online retailer Ocado have struck a deal that should enable the retailer to expand its delivery service outside of London.
A five-year deal was signed just before Christmas allowing Ocado exclusivity within the M25 and Waitrose the chance to roll out its Deliver service to 125 of its stores, reports the Times.
It had previously been hindered from expnading further becuase parent company John Lewis has a small stake in Ocado.
The firm is currently in the process of a £1.5m website overhaul after making a number of changes in 2008, such as the introduction of the Shopping Jotter.
Waitrose has increased the number of its supermarkets offering Waitrose Deliver from 40 to 94.
It plans to add another 31 to this by the end of the year.
TNS reported last week that Waitrose sales growth was just 0.7% in the 12 weeks to 25 January.
