Waitrose recalls organic eggs

Waitrose has recalled organic eggs from one farm because of fears of lead contamination.

The organic free range eggs from Columbian black tail hens, with date codes up to and including 21 May have been withdrawn, and information notices have been placed at point-of-sale in stores nationwide.

The product sizes include Medium (6 egg and 12 egg packs), Large (6 egg packs) and Very Large (6 egg packs) with farm code OUK 20137.

According to the BBC, the contamination is thought to have resulted from shot from a nearby clay pigeon shoot getting into the farm’s free range area.
