The worker sacked by Marks & Spencer (M&S) is expected to learn today if his appeal against the decision will be successful.
GMB union, which represents ex-M&S member of staff Tony Goode, said that it hopes “wiser heads” will step in and change their minds after he was dismissed for revealing changes to the retailer’s redundancy package.
Legal officer at the GMB Maria Ludkin said that even at this “late stage” something should be done about the move.
“I hope that … they will change their approach to what after all was simply a public airing of views, against the plans to cut the redundancy pay,” he commented.
The Guardian reports that M&S is set to report a drop in sales for the first half of the year on Thursday.
