Tony Cleeve, Mike Turner, Jonathan Bye…all the latest People Moves


A number of high profile appointments have been announced in the alcoholic drinks sector.


Leading brewer, SABMiller has appointed Ronald van Amerongen as international brand director for Grolsch, reporting to Nick Fell, group marketing director.

Cobra Beer has recruited Tony Cleeve as its new channel controller for grocery and convenience. Cleeve joins from Beam Global Spirits & Wine and replaces Michael Hutchins, who is joining drinks company, Monster Energy UK.

Cider company Thatchers has appointed Paul Savage as general sales manager and Greene King has recruited Mike Turner as business account manager in the company’s take-home division.
Turner previously worked at Mars for 21 years, in roles spanning manufacturing, sales and national account management.

In the soft drinks market, Vimto has a new managing director. Jonathan Bye, previously general manager at Patak’s Foods, took on the role this week.

Grove Fresh, the chilled organic juice company, part of the Wellness Foods Group, has appointed Mark Phillips as sales and marketing director.

Chris Guest, the former chair of Stream Foods, the branded fruit snacks business, which was sold to Wellness Foods Group at the end of 2007, is the new chairman of baby food company, Plum Baby.

The Ilchester Cheese Company has a new chairman too. Jonathan Smith, who has been working with the company for more than 10 years in various capacities, is appointed to the role.

Elsewhere, family-owned bakers Wrights Pies has promoted Neville Carruthers to the new role of operations director at its Crewe site.

Kent-based frozen food specialist Ardo UK has made two appointments to its management team.

Steve Scorah is recruited as accounts office manager and Gary Wooldridge joins as distribution facilities manager.

Fairtrade nut firm, Liberation Foods has appointed Ilaria Ida as its first head of marketing and communications.

Culina Logistics, the food and drink distributor, has appointed James Preston as supply chain development manager.

Hubbard Ice Systems, the sole UK distributor of Scotsman ice machines, has promoted Mark Stebbings to technical and aftercare manager.

Irisys, the company which uses infra red technology to measure customer traffic, has appointed René Schrama as worldwide sales director.

ZBD Displays, the supplier of EPOP wireless e-paper displays, has appointed Carl Plucknett as chief financial officer.
