The Co-operative Food scooped up a number of awards for its dairy products at the International Cheese Awards in Nantwich, the biggest of its kind in the world.
Five Co-operative own-brand dairy products received awards for excellence.
The Co-operative’s Truly Irresistible Mango and Passion Fruit Yogurt, a creamy yogurt made with West Country milk and double cream, and the retailer’s own-brand Double Cream both won gold awards. The judges said the yogurt had a “fantastic fruit flavour, wonderfully creamy texture, defined fruit pieces and was truly irresistible”.
The Co-operative’s Whipping Cream and its Truly Irresistible Channel Islands Extra Thick Cream – a golden-coloured fresh pasteurised double cream from Jersey and Guernsey cows – also won silver awards, and The Co-operative Granola and Greek Yogurt, a reduced fat Greek-style yogurt with a crunchy granola topping, won a bronze.
Meanwhile, The Co-operative’s Truly Irresistible Clotted Cream, a traditional Roddas clotted cream with a luxuriously thick golden crust, won a highly commended award.
Alison Evans, category marketing manager for chilled and frozen at The Co-operative Food, said: “The International Cheese Awards is a major event and the cheese and dairy awards are extremely prestigious, so we are proud to have won these awards which recognise the broad range of exciting, high quality dairy products we have in our stores.”
