Tesco plans eco-store for Lincolnshire

tesco berwickTesco has submitted a planning application to South Kesteven District Council to build a 40,000sq ft store in South Road, Bourne, Lincolnshire.

If approved, the retailer said the new store would create around 300 jobs in the town.

Tesco plans to build a store using sustainable materials and eco-friendly building methods to achieve a 30% reduction in carbon emissions over a non-environmental format store.

The eco-store will include a rainwater harvesting process, sustainable ventilation and lighting and a combined heat and power system.

Tesco said it hoped a decision would be made by the spring so that building work could start later this year.
