Tesco will offer a complete family Christmas dinner for £7.93, it said, despite the rising cost of living.
According to the retailer, a family of four can buy traditional items such as carrots, turkey, stuffing and potatoes at a lower price than in 2007 and 2003.
Spokesman Jonathan Church said: “There is a myth that the cost of serving up a Christmas dinner for all the family is the most expensive meal of the year but Tesco proves that it needn’t be.
“We’ve kept prices low to make sure that a family of four can still enjoy a Christmas dinner for less than the average price of a fish supper for two.”
Tesco made the announcement as mySupermarket.co.uk said the price of 24 staple goods has risen by an average of 17.8% in the past year.
Earlier this week, Tesco was named European Retailer of the Year at the International Wine & Spirit Competition.
