Tesco has announced a number of new appointments to its wine team.
Emma Biggs, currently Bibendum sales director, has been appointed to a newly created role of BWS category format manager and will join Tesco in September.
In her new role, Biggs will head up the customer planning stream, which includes wine customer planner Sarah Archer and customer manager for beers and spirits, Ian Targett. Helen Johnston will move from her current role as buyer for fortified wines into the customer planning stream. These changes will see the customer team double in size.
Announcing further changes to the team in wine, Tesco has also appointed Lindsay Chadwick as buying manager for fine wine. Chadwick joins Tesco from multinational catering company, Compass, where she headed up purchasing for BWS and will report to Tesco’s new wine category manager, Alain Guilpain.
Also joining Tesco’s growing wine team is James Mills, who will join group wine sourcing as assistant buyer following a successful 18 months as a graduate trainee buyer within corporate purchasing.
In another new role Ben Kelly has been appointed as wine sales manager within the online Wine by the Case business, with the remit to manage and grow Tesco’s ‘Wine Adviser’ service. Kelly joins following four years at Quintessentially Wine, where he managed private client sales and B2B sales in the UK and US. Kelly will report to Stuart Anderton who runs Wine by the Case.
