Tesco buys Woolies’ Easter eggs

Tesco is set to buy the Easter egg stock that would have been sent to Woolworths, making it the largest retailer of these products.

Lucy Neville-Rolfe, executive director of corporate and legal affairs, confirmed the supermarket chain will see a large increase in the volumes of Easter eggs on its shelves, reports Retail Week.

Woolworths was the biggest retailer for chocolate egg sales before it fell into administration at the end of November.

A gift pick will be sold at Tesco for £2.49.

Tesco said this week it is offering consumers cheap luxury meals in the run-up to Valentine’s Day.
