Retailers had to take emergency deliveries of CDs at the weekend after Woolworths and distribution arm Entertainment UK (EUK) went into administration.
Before last week, a number of supermarkets such as Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons used EUK for CD and DVD supplies.
An Asda spokesperson said that high-profile titles – such as the new Take That and Britney Spears albums – will be on the shelves as normal this week, despite the supply problems, which were predicted last week.
Entertainment Retailers’ Association director Kim Bayley told the BBC: “We are monitoring events on an hour by hour basis and liaising with record, video and games companies to find a way through this situation.”
Today Deloitte – Woolworths’ administrator – said that a number of parties are interested in the business.
Dragon’s Den star Theo Paphitis is among the potential suitors looking to take on the firm’s best-performing stores.
