Caravan’s Sporting Heroes luncheon raised more than £135,000…


Caravan’s Sporting Heroes luncheon raised more than £135,000, an increase of around £18,000 on the previous year. The event was held at London’s Park Lane Hilton on November 14 last year and attended by 820 guests and some of Britain’s best-known sporting personalities.

Guest speaker David Gower entertained after lunch with anecdotes from on and off the cricket pitch, and was followed by Aaron James, who impersonated sporting celebrities. Among the guests at the event were Linford Christie, Geoff Capes, Bob Champion, Darren Bicknell, Allan Lamb, Duncan Goodhew, Adrian Moorhouse, Frank McLintock, Martin Peters, Brian Huggett, David Wilkie, Gladstone Small, Richard Dunwoody and Eddie the Eagle Edwards.

A raffle was also held, in addition to an auction of prizes including a magnum of champagne a week for a year, a signed Manchester United football shirt and a golf day for two with Kenny Dagleish and Alan Hansen.
